Attendees will learn about recent legal developments impacting workplaces in Colorado.  Attendees should leave the session equipped with an understanding of the current legal issues and new risks in Colorado as well as tools to ensure compliance
and prepare for future changes in the employment law arena.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Scott Pechaitis headshot
Scott M. Pechaitis is a Principal in the Denver, Colorado, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He represents management exclusively in all areas of employment law.
His practice is focused on litigation statistics and EEO systemic discrimination cases. He assists in the defense of class-based discrimination and wage and hour class/collective actions. He also counsels employers on workplace law matters, including hiring and pre-employment testing, layoffs, and reductions-in-force. In addition, Mr. Pechaitis prepares affirmative action plans and represents government contractors in OFCCP audits and related matters. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Pechaitis practiced as a Litigation Associate representing management in various matters involving wage and hour issues, employment discrimination, harassment, worker misclassification, disputes under collective bargaining agreements, and other employment related issues. 

Melisa Panagakos headshot
Melisa Panagakos is an Associate in the Denver, Colorado, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters.
She has litigated cases involving claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation including second chairing a 4-day trial in federal court. Ms. Panagakos also has experience litigating non-compete cases in state and federal court as well as defending a variety of class action lawsuits. She also counsels clients regarding complex state and federal laws related to the employee/employer relationship.
Prior to Jackson Lewis, Ms. Panagakos practiced in the public sector defending state agencies in employment litigation matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, and First Amendment claims.
While at St. Lawrence University, Mr. Pechaitis was admitted to the Irving Bachelor Society for excellence in academic achievement. While attending law school he was a law clerk for the New York State Attorney General’s Office.

Recertification Credit: This program has been submitted for 1 hour of both HRCI and SHRM Certification credits.
